Day 9 Part 3 cont

Evida's Diary: Day 9 (part 3)

He looked at me appraisingly. ”Like I said, others will want to take you out too. That’s the point.”
“Yes, but they know I won’t go.”
“What?”
“I won’t go out with any of the losers who ask me to go out with them.”
“Listen carefully to what I say,” he said, speaking slowly like I was an idiot or something. “People will try to kill you.”
I looked around me. “That happens all the time. This is World of Warcraft. I PVP. I have more than 50,000 kills. Duh! Of course they’re trying to kill me. I’d be offended if they weren’t.”
“Supposing I put you into our Witness Protection Programme? A temporary new life in a new location?”
          “Somewhere nice?”
“Oh yes. Sometimes, I expect. We’ll move you around so no-one gets to you.”
“What about Chilly?”
“We’ll send him with you, in an inert form. That will stop him liaising with anyone here.”
“What about the pets?”
“You’ll be able to have them with you. Trollop has been working for us for many years in any case. You may not always know where they are, but they’ll be there.”
“So it will be a bit like a holiday?”

“Exactly like one,” he lied.
“And when I get back, all I need to do is tell the truth?”
“Indeed. Assuming that what you told me is the truth of course.”
“It sounds easy. When’s the tribunal?”
“Soon. What do you say?”
“What about my realm change?”
“We will of course move you to Draenor, as you’re not going to be popular with Horde Nagrand for a while. We have an alternate Evida waiting to take your place. She will take up your guild duties, and draw our enemies’ fire till the tribunal. She’s a robot actually,” he confided.
“Made by goblins or gnomes?”
“Gnomes of course. I’m surprised you had to ask.”
Well at least it wouldn’t blow up. Or not straight away, anyway. “Ok,” I said. After all, what did I have to lose?
