Family Matters pt2

Evida's Diary: Day Four cont.

As I was in the neighbourhood I decided to pop in and see if my brother was around. Surely he'd be willing to help? When I got there he was throwing some sort of party but was inside chatting up some random female. I heard him say, “of course, I used to be an adventurer but then....”

“No you weren't, silly,” I said. “Though it's a shame, because we could have gone questing together.”
“You weren't there,” he said coldly. “It was while you were away.”
“Have you still got the arrow?”
“No of course not.”
“How is your knee now?” I asked.
“Um, ok, “he admitted.
“Excellent. Then you could come with me right now, my guild has disappeared. I need all the help I can get. What level did you get to?” For some reason my brother had gone beetroot red, which really doesn't suit his colouring.

“I thought Daddy said you'd retired?”
“Retired? Why would I retire? Weird. Perhaps he's losing it?”
“Look Evida,” said my brother. “Your guild hates you. They do you know, especially Forst, so they waited until you were asleep and ran off.”
“All of them? Besides they've always hated me and they've never run off before.”
“You know they hate you?” he asked in amazement.
“Yes,” I nodded. “So I figured they must have been kidnapped.”

I left there feeling very confused. The more I mulled it over the more it didn't make sense. As i made the journey home I couldnt get it out of my head. My brother had been an adventurer? Why didn't he tell me? Also, how had daddy known about the assassins, and why do adventurers always take arrows through the knee? And what do they do with the arrows afterwards? I'd hate to take an arrow through the knee and then not know whether to frame it or something.
